Duties and Responsibilities

•	Promote a culture of encouragement, support and challenge in order to achieve each child’s full potential and the highest possible educational standards.

•	With the support of the staff and under the direction of the board, shape a vision for the school which reflects it is educational values and ensure this vision is clearly and effectively articulated, shared and understood.

•	Translate this vision into agreed objectives and operational and development plans which will promote and sustain school improvement.

•	Promote creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate new technologies to achieve excellence.

•	Ensure that the ethos and practice of the School is reflected within its mission, objectives and philosophy.

To develop and implement the Schools policies at all levels at all times.

•	Develop, motivate and lead all staff to achieve the highest professional standards.

•	Build a collaborative learning culture within the School and actively engage with other primary schools and other agencies to build effective learning communities.

•	Ensure job descriptions and performance management for all staff are based on clear roles and responsibilities, reviewed at least annually.

•	Ensure all policies are developed and kept up to date, working closely with the teaching staff, senior management team and the senior leadership team.

•	Maintain sound procedures for the security, supervision and maintenance of the School environment ensuring that all health and safety regulations are met

•	Manage your own personal professional development whilst ensuring the wellbeing of as well as a good work/life balance for all personnel.

•	Contribute to the senior leadership team, forming a pro-active and effective working partnership with them.

•	To keep up-to-date with educational reform and policy by ensuring an awareness of education initiatives and their usefulness.

•	To attend all staff meetings, subject leaders’ meetings, senior leadership/management team meetings and other meetings which may arise.

•	To prepare agendas for and chairing meetings of various contexts.

•	To teach some classes in a given subject

•	Manage change effectively.

Ensure a consistent and continuous school-wide focus on pupil assessment and achievement, using appropriate data and benchmarks to set, monitor track and evaluate individual pupil progress.

•	To plan and implement initiatives for the development of teaching and learning, with a requirement to provide a termly Inset programs.

•	To oversee the departmental and school self-review procedures and to formally meet Subject 

•	Leaders on a regular basis to monitor standards within departments. To implement an ongoing program of observation to ensure high standards of teaching and learning and to promote the sharing of best practice.

•	To be responsible for the monitoring and development of assessment, recording, reporting and target setting, including updating the Assessment Policy and ensuring that each student is reaching an appropriate level for their stage.

•	To oversee optimal staff use of assessment data in the planning and revision of teaching schemes

Timetable and Staffing/Staff Development/Calendar

•	To oversee the construction, implementation and review of the academic and co-curricular activity timetables in order to ensure that it enables the best quality teaching and learning to take place, allied to optimum provision of co-curricular activities.

•	To review academic staff requirements with the Executive Head Teacher and liaise on all recruitment of academic staff.

•	To develop and oversee the orientation program for new staff, in conjunction with the other relevant staff.

•	To oversee the orientation for new students.

•	To oversee the School Calendar.

To ensure learning experiences for students are integrated with the wider community.

•	To collaborate with other agencies to promote the academic, spiritual, moral, social, charitable, emotional, and cultural well-being of students and their families.

•	To create and maintain an effective partnership with parents and guardians to support and improve student achievement and personal development.

•	To seek opportunities to invite parents and guardians, community figures, businesses or other organizations into the school to enrich the school and its value to the wider community.

To participate in the appointment of staff to departments and support the Subject Leaders in the drawing up of their specific job descriptions.

•	To promote development and training opportunities for all departments.

•	To assume responsibility for the effective operation of the Teacher Appraisal System.

•	To monitor staff performance in the classroom and organize and be involved in lesson observation and feedback.

To undertake and perform any reasonable request as set out by the Executive Head Teacher

•	To respond to specific requests and demands as outlined by any member of the School’s Board of Directors

•	Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

Key Requirements Skills, experience and qualification

•	Mature and competent person. Should be at least 30 years and above

•	A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a Diploma in ECDE studies

•	At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position

•	Must be registered by TSC

•	Valid Certificate of good conduct

•	Experience in both 844 and CBC Curriculum

•	Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
